Glad to be of help, if I can, though it sounds like you know more than I... and may already know the little I do have to share. I don't have anything on descendants at all.You mentioned that one of their sons was a professor and all I can add to that is that it is likely that his mother, Janet, encouraged education because she herself was a teacher, at the time of her marriage, in Beverly, MA on 26 Oct 1885, as a 24 year old.
Her husband was 29 year old carpenter, John Augustine Ober, son of John R. & Sarah L. Ober. His birthplace is listed as Beverly, MA and Janet's is presented as Port Medway.
On the registration, the mothers' maiden names were placed in parenthesis and in this case Sarah L. (Ober)... which suggests that may have been her maiden name and therefore possibly a cousin to her husband, John R?
I have a digital copy of the marriage registration and I had tried to email you, to see if you would like to have it, but your email address is not presented.... mine is... so if you would like to have it, email me and I will be happy to send it to you.
Of course, if you have been at this for ten years, you likely already know all of the above?
I am only distantly related, through the Cahoons, but I would like to add her descendant information, if you have any to share.
