Hi Virginia, According to my records and notes, Susannah Calcote was born circa 1808 in MS; married to Robert Allen 13 Mar. 1823 in Franklin Co., MS. The person marrying them was Susannah's brother, James Calcote. James was able to marry them because he was a Justice of the Peace at that time. I have a copy of their marriage certificate on page 47 of my book, CALCOTE FAMILY JOURNEY. Dr Robert Allen died 8th of April 1850 (a copy of this is on the same page) and is from a MS newspaper clipping from Copiah Co., MS. Susannah's siblings were: James Calcote, John Calcote, Jr., L. Calcote, Stephen Calcote, Mary Calcote, William Cade Calcote, Catherine Calcote, and a male Calcote born between 1804/1810. The Rev. & Dr., James Gibson Calcote born 17 Sept., 1821 was the son of William Cade Calcote, and was a nephew of Susannah. Susannah's father was John Calcote, Sr., a soldier in the American Revolution. Two of our Granddaughters, Amy and Emily, were the first descendants of John Calcote entering the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution with John Calcote, Sr, as their Patriot ancestor. Many other female descendants of John Calcote, Sr., are now members of DAR because of his patriotic service with Gen. Francis Marion in South Carolina.
