Jeppie, You have given us a clue with the name of Absolum Melton Coleman.
On page 67 & 68 of CALCOTE FAMILY JOURNEY is an actual copy of the Marriage Bond, dated 26 April, 1813, and an account of the marriage on 4 May, 1813, of Stephen Calcote and Elizabeth Melton. The Census of 1820 shows them with 5 sons & 2 daughters born between 1813 & 1820. No names listed, just the sex. Probably, Eliza was probably listed in the 1830 Census record, there again no names are listed in 1830 Census records. Stephen & Elizabeth lived in Amite Co., MS, then Franklin Co., MS & later Copiah Co., MS.
Stephen Calcote served in the War of 1812 in the Mississippi Militia, in Col. Claiborne's Regimant. His Father, John Calcote, served in the American Revolution, under Lt. General Francis Marion in South Carolina.
Female descendants are eligible for membership in Daughters of the American Revolution and in the War of 1812.
