1. NATHANIEL DICKERSON8 PARRIS (SAMUEL7, SAMUEL B.6, THOMAS5, JOHN4, THOMAS3, JOHN2, JOHN1) was born 1760 in Guilford or Rockingham Co., NC, and died 1858 in Paulding Co., Ga.. He married (1) UNKNOWN. She died Unknown. He married (2) LUCY in South Carolina. She was born Abt. 1794 in South Carolina, and died Unknown.

Notes for NATHANIEL DICKERSON PARRIS:
Moved to Georgia in 1840 with 2nd wife Lucy and children, Francis ( Fanny) and Noah. Fanny had an illegitimate son named Greenberry. After they arrived in Georgia she joined a Church and was listed as a Parris.


Nathaniel gave his birth date as 1760 and in Rockingham Co., North Carolina in at least one US Census. He appears in the 1800, 1810, 1820, 1830 and 1840 census, all in Spartanburg, SC. (Orange Co., NC now part of Rockingham County,NC).


In the 1830 census, Nathaniel was listed as age 70, living with 1- male under age 5, 2 - males 20-30, 1- female 10 - 15, 1 female 20- 30, 1- female 60 - 70. The last female is probably his first wife. The female 20 - 30 is probably his daughter, Fanny.


The 1840 South Carolina census listed Nathaniel living with two females ages 20 - 30, one male 10 - 15, he was between 70 - 80.

Nathaniel also appears in the 1840 census in Cobb County, Georgia with Lucy ( probably his 2nd wife), Nathaniel ll ( or Jr.) and Silvester Parris, an unmarried son.

The move to Cobb County, Georgia apparently was just after the 1840 census in South Carolina and in time for the 1840 census in Georgia This move may have been precipated by the birth of Fanny's illegitimate child, a boy who may have been named Greenberry.

(Nathaniel Dickerson Parris was the son of Samuel Parris Jr. and Rachel Dickenson and the grandson of Nathaniel Dickenson who died in 1753 in Louisa County, Virginia. Rockingham is adjacent to Surry County, North Carolina where Rachel's brother, Griffith Dickenson Sr. died in 1788.)
