Kelly, I hope your still out there, since the posting I'm responding to is 5 years old.Anyhow, I am researching the same folks you are regarding the "Callihan" family.I too have information that corresponds with yours regarding the four children being "Bound Out, According to Law".
Cornelius is my 3rd Great Grandfather and I've "assumed", based on the court records that his father is John Callihan. However from there I've reached a "Dead-End".
I have researched the meaning of "Bound Out" and it is my understanding that in those days there were Official "Overseers of the Poor" who were appointed to look after families of the time and resolve various issues, including: "Paying of debts" "Ensuring that children were being properly cared for" "etc". It is my opinion that it was one of these reasons that the Callihan Children were "Bound Out".Either there was debt to be saisfied, or perhaps their Mother had passed away (Since she is not mentioned anywhere I've looked.) and the Father, John, could not properly care for them.
Anyhow hope you get this and can respond.I do have info on Anne Beaver, who I believe moved to Ohio and lived in the Crawford County (Mansfield) area.
Let me know if you have other info, I'll be glad to share anything I have with you. Regards, Ron Callahan (firstname.lastname@example.org)
