Christopher Cambridge, Scot missionary to Spain
My name is Marcos and I am a young Spanish Evangelical who live in the region of Galicia, in the northwestern corner of Spain.
I am trying to find out anything about one of our early missionaries here calle Christopher Cambridge. His wife was called Catherine. They belonged to the Christian Brethren assemblies, an Evangelical group similar to Baptists. They came as missionaries to Spain in 1894, and they served in a number of places in the south of the country. I know this by Echoes of Service magazine, which is a publication still in existence in Bath, UK. But they have not archives for the period researched. By the letters of the Cambridges published in Echoes, I have found that they could be scottish.
In August 1921, they were on furlough in UK. They stayed at Council Crescent, Bellshill, Lanarkshire. In March 1928, at 103, Sommerville Road, St. Andrew's Park, Bristol. In June 1928, they were at 199, Shields Road, Flemington, Motherwell. In 1929, at Greenwood Bank, Overton Road, Strathaven, Lanarkshire.
In 1925, Mrs. Cambridge and a daugther stayed at Miss Clapton's house, at Homeward, Hawthorne Grove, Entry Hill, Bath
