Have lots of Peter Camerons in my file, one in particular which might be of interest: Peter Cameron b: 2 April 1794, Tombreck, Kirkmichael, Banffshire
Inveravon and Kirkmichael are sometimes synonymous see: http://gen.deltanz.net/banff/upper.htmlhttp://gen.deltanz.net/banff/upper.html (below is truncated quote, Invera'an is the local way to say Inveravon, Inveranan)
Farms etc in Invera'an in 1876 (*Pre-1700, °1700-1800):
... Tombreck, ...."
I have no descendency on this Peter, but his parents were James Cameron (b: 1754/1755) and Isabel Stuart (or Stewart).. I have a weird trail there as there appears to be 2 x James Camerons born about this time and died around the same timeand called their children similarly
i.e there are 2 LIBINDX entries (http://libindx.moray.gov.uk/mainmenu.asp) ref: NM033411 & NM151014
I'm inclined to believe this is the same person as both are listed as living in Tombreck - but you never know eh?
anyway presuming one person (b:4 Aug 1754),I then have this James Cameron's father as James Cameron (alias Bain)- as in the title post- b: 29 Dec 1728 to Peter Cameron & Janet McWillie
McWillie is definitely an alias of the time.. probably for Grant
This Family Lineall stayed at first Inverchebat, Then Tombreck, which are neighbouring properties in the Kirkmichael parish but right on the Inveravon border
Off topic.. I saw you asked in another thread about Andrew Reith in Echt.. wouldn't you know I come from Echt!
Echt is small village, formerly a parish in its own right but is now in the Parish of Skene, The Parishes of Skene and Newhills are neighbours.. is that close enough? These parishes, Skene (Echt) Newhills all border Peterculter. (Countesswells is in Newhills and is right next door to Peterculter, funnily enough my Camerons landed there too but not until the 1920's)
Anyway I found a marriage in Aug 1797 for an Andrew Reith to a Margaret Smith in Peterculter.. the date of this marriage fits with births of children to Andrew Reith in Newhills: Jean b: 24 Dec 1799 Ann b: 24 Nov 1801 John b: 23 Jan 1803 Mary More b: 10 Mar 1805 ** Yours ** Margaret b: 24 May 1807
