My mother-in-law was a Cammock whose family came from Ireland (County Down?) via Glasgow. I have researched various such families in Scotland and have managed to connect with several. Adam is not one one of those. I have however found that his parents were William Cammock and Isabella Appleton (death register details) and his wife was Margaret Boyd (also from death registration). They apparently came over from Ireland in the 1860's. From the 1871 and 1881 censuses there are four children - William (1841), Adam (1851), Francis(1855) and Margaret(1861). There is a grandson James McMehan(8) in 1871, and James A. M. Mechan (19) and a granddaughter Ellen Mechan (5) in the 1881 census.
This would indicate there must be at least another daughter, name unknown. The only avenue for investigating might be to try to find the birth registration for Ellen Mechan (in Dalry).
