Shadrack Canham/Mary E. Pearson
Just to let the descendents of Shadrack Canham and wife, Mary E. Pearson, know that after all these years, we believe we have just found a brother of Mary E.His name was Benjamin F. Pearson, born c1836, in IL.He is first found by name in the 1860 Morgan Co., IL, census, living with John McKain 40 IR, Mary McKain 40 Scot, and family. In 1870, he is listed in Franklin, Morgan Co. with a wife Elizabeth Kellis. And in 1880, he is living in Cherokee Co., KS, with a wife Sarah and son Charles. In the 1900 Newton Co., MO, census, it lists only Sarah Pearson and sons Charles and Fredrick. After 1910 and before 1913, the name had changed to Pierson. The death certificates for Sarah, Charles and Fredrick are on line at MO SOS.
In the 1880 census Benjamin F. states he was born in IL, his father born in Scot and his mothers place of birth is left blank. This matches the info we have for Mary E.'s parents as Mary E. stated in 1880 her mother was born in OH but in 1900 she stated it was TN.Mary E.'s father was Benjamin Pearson born c1805 Scot, and she named her first child, Benjamin F. Canham. It remains unknown at this time if Mary McKain, born c1810 Scot, was a relative of Benjamin Pearson.
