For those still looking for parents of Thomas and Jane, I am 100 percent sure they died in MA. Jane, surely, died in Everett, MA on 08-Nov-1891, aged 60y 11m 7d. She was b. Weymouth, NS, 1831, buried Glenwood Cemetery.
Her parents were listed as Paul Melanson, b. France and Mary UNK, b. St. Mary Bay.
She was not listed as widowed, suggesting Thomas outlived her, which led to the following VERY LIKELY match, though it is not as SOLID as Jane's:
A Thomas H. Cann, master mariner, aged 79y 3m, Cape Breton, NS, d. at 280 Friend St, Boston, on 01-Apr-1892, listed parents were John Cann, b. England and Lucy Townsend b. France.
As I've not looked deeply into the census records in Canada, WAS Thomas a master mariner? Is it POSSIBLE he was born in Cape Breton, moved to Digby, then later, Yarmouth County, then to Boston? Would surely fit with this occupation, and the movement of his family.
