Hi, In 1997 I was in written communication with Rosamonde Combes who sent me some information you had transcribed. Since then I have exchanged info with Ron Morcom who is married to the daughter of Michael Crotty who is the son of James Crotty and Rose Anne Hand. You can view my exchanges with Ron at genforum.com/crotty then scroll down the page.
John Canny (Revail) married Catherine Crotty (Ballymalone) on 30th May 1837. The witnesses were Michael McNamara and John Canny.
There was a Michael McNamara married to a Mary Crotty of Ballymalone so this Michael was probably Catherine's brother-in-law. John Canny may have been either her father or a brother.
We know that when Catherine died her age suggested she was born in 1816. Her death cert names her parents as John Crotty and Anne Sheridan. The 1825 tithe applotment book for Tomgraney (Ballymalone) lists a John Crotty resident in Ballymalone. By the 1860s Thomas Crotty and Michael Crotty were resident with their families in Ballymalone. James Crotty who was a relative of the Canny family in Kempsey was born in 1857 and was probably the son of Michael Crotty.
In the 1830s/1840s there were three Canny brothers Thomas Canny resident in Teeroneer in Lough O'Grady, John Canny resident at Malt House Hill in Ballyvannon and James Canny a carpenter resident in Kielty (otherwise known as Callahy)[Info from the Memorandum book of Lord Dunboyne - the landlord of Ballyvannon.]
It might be best if we continue the rest by email.
