Since posting the message above, I have learned from another Canon descendant that John Canon, Jr. sold his land in NC in 1839 and migrated to Marshall County, MS with two of his sons, Alfred Orville, my g-g-grandfather and Moses Moore Harvey Canon. John, Jr. died in 1840 at age 76 and is buried in the Presbyterian Church Cemetery at College HIll, Lafayette Co., MS.The little church in Victoria had not been built at that time. When it was, it was on Afred's farm. Alfred married Elizabeth Hope (date unk.). In 1852, he married Esther M. Stinson of Marshall Co. The name given on the marriage records is "Ellen," but I believe that Esther is correct.
John Canon, Sr. and Martha Alexander Canon are both buried in the Hopewell Pres. Church Cemetery in Huntersville, NC (confirmed this past Thursday). John died in 1764 and age 64, Martha died in 1798 at age 64.
In addition to Alfred and Moses, John and Mary (Polly) Scott Moore Canon (dau. of Moses Moore) had the following children:
William Addison Canon, b. June 26, 1797
Patsy Deidonia Canon, b. November 07, 1799
