Simon P Canty was my great-grandfather. I believe his first wife's name was Mary Kiniry. I have an interesting article that was printed in a Boston newspaper at the time of his death. As Medford had just become a city, he brought a steam roller over from Quincy and was offered the job of foreman in the street department. He also built and operated the first gasoline station in Medford. At the time of his death he was survived by his wife, Mary Ellen (Grady), 10 children, and 27 grandchildren. He was buried at the Oak Grove Cemetery which I think is in Everett.
