We migrated to Australia in 1974 and now have grandchildren of our own. When we moved here we didn't realise the move would have so far reaching an effect on future family members in relation to their predecessors. So if there is someone out there in the "old" country who can help with any information of possible links to relatives it would be much appreciated. My father-in-law's full name was George Wilkinson Cappleman: b.1906 (possibly London?), married Winifred Ainger: b.1908 Bournemouth. They had four sons and a daughter John, Peter Cyril & Brian George (twins), Janet Winifred and David Arthur (my husband). We have a son Ian: b.1972 and daughter Karen: b.1973. George Wilkinson Cappleman had two brothers, Herbert and Arthur (Arthur was killed when a mine fell down his chimney in WWII), and two sisters Ena and Eva who are well over the 90-mark (one of the sisters has reached her 100th now). The original family I am told came from the Filey area (of which Dad; George was most proud) and used to mention that the family originated somewhere from Germany many moons ago.
