Orrstown, Pa -
Paul H. Carbaugh, 80, of 12041 Mountain Road, Orrstown, died at 6:40 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008, in Chambersburg Hospital. He had been in failing health for the past year and critically ill for the last three days.
Born Aug. 11, 1927, near Mercersburg, he was the son of the late Lloyd H. and Carrie (Ricker) Carbaugh.
He and his wife, Hazel M. (Foore) Carbaugh, were married for more than 51 years.
Mr. Carbaugh served in the U.S. Army, where he received the World War II Victory Medal and was honorably discharged Sept. 25, 1947. He also worked for Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, for 39 years, and served a tour of Vietnam in 1968 for post-war support. He retired in December 1983.
He was a member of Newburg Church of God.
He also was a member of the AARP and the Loyal Order of the Moose. He was a life member of the Mercersburg VFW Post 6241.
Mr. Carbaugh enjoyed hunting deer, hiking in the woods, home maintenance, gardening and lawn care and helping his family fix items in need of repair. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending events in which they participated.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Steve Carbaugh of Shippensburg; one grandson; one granddaughter; one great-grandson; one great-granddaughter; and four brothers, Guy R. Carbaugh, Raymond E. Carbaugh, Lloyd L. Carbaugh and Leslie W. Carbaugh, all of Franklin County.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one infant son; one brother, John R. Carbaugh; and his stepmother, Cora E. Carbaugh.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Shippensburg, with the Revs. Kevin Dunlap and John Byers officiating. Burial will be in Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Upper Strasburg, with military honors conducted by the Shippensburg VFW and American Legion posts.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to services Thursday in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

HAZEL M. CARBAUGH, 86, of Sportsman Road, Greencastle, died Monday, April 21, 2008, in Falling Spring Nursing Center, Chambersburg.
Born Dec. 19, 1921, in Sylvan, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Viola (Keefer) Seburn.
Her husband, Merrill W. Carbaugh, died in 2006.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Carbaugh was a Protestant.
She is survived by one son, Paul S. Carbaugh of Mercersburg; two grandsons; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Iva Johnson of Timber Ridge and Ella Mae Deshong of Hanover; and one brother, William Seburn of Greencastle.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg, with the Rev. Chuck Ryan officiating.
Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services Thursday in the funeral home.

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Amos J. Carbaugh, 67, of Kuhn Road, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009, at Chambersburg (Pa.) Hospital.
Born Feb. 28, 1941, in Mercersburg, Pa., he was the son of the late J. Merle and Pearl Atherton Carbaugh.
He had been employed by Grove Worldwide of Shady Grove, Pa.
He attended Maple Grove Church of God in Mercersburg.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy J. Thrush Carbaugh, whom he married Feb. 10, 1964; three daughters, Wanda K. Threadgill of Kingsport, Tenn., Melissa I. Carbaugh of Greencastle and Roxanne S. Keith of Mercersburg; one son, Kenneth A. Carbaugh of St. Thomas, Pa.; one sister, Faith E. Carbaugh of Mercersburg; two brothers, John T. Carbaugh of Mercersburg and David H. Carbaugh of Burnt Cabins, Pa.; nine grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg. The Revs. Ronald L. Lynch and Samuel Fendley will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Mercersburg.
Viewing will be Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
