just been doing some local history research and have info re Joseph who bought Cobyn's hall in King's Swinford. He was born on Jan 24th 1687/8 (depends which calendar you are going by)the second son of Richard Carless (who might possily be the brother of the colonel). The son I am interested in was the 6th son Edward. He married Miss Elizabeth Tonkys of Nechels and their only son was called William. He married Mary Pratchett on 10th June 1779. William lived at Ravenhust in Harborne Staffs(now a suburb of Birmingham)He died 24th June 1787. He had 4 children Rev Edward Carless, Elizabeth, Mary Ann, and Sarah. It was Elizabeths' marriage to Thomas Attwood in 1806that set me off on this particular path. Thomas Attwood a banker was instrumental in securing peaceful reform of the English political system in 1832 and became one of B'hams 1st MPs
