Spelling: Carlile/Carlyle/Carley/Kerley,etc
In many cases these are the same family. In York,Maine, during the 1700s, the "Carlile" family is descended from Henry Kerley b. 1632 s/o William Kerley/Carley b. abt 1599 in Ashmore, Devon,England, and came to the Colonies in 1637. Lived at Hingham, Marlbourough,Sudbury, and Lancaster.Ask me for more detail. Henry was also the Grandparent of the William and brother James who went to VA then NC,etc and spelling became Cearley/Kerley. Bob Lefler
