Ms. Helen Louise CARLTON Grider of Ozark, Alabama passed away Thursday, September 24, 2009, at her residence following an extended illness. She was 77.
Funeral services was held Sunday, September 27, 2009, at the chapel of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home. Burial followed in Woodlawn Memory Gardens under the direction of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home.
Helen L. CARLTON Grider was born in Jackson County, Alabama to Claude and Susie Carlton on December 23, 1931. She graduated from Pisgah High School in 1951. She was a bus driver for the Ozark City Schools System for 36 years and worked for The Officers Club at Fort Rucker for 35 years. Ms. Grider was the oldest member of the Church of Nazarene in Ozark having attended there for 56 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Charles Ray Grider, and one daughter, Myra June GRIDER Cooley, both of Ozark; two sisters: Ruby CARLTON Hicks and Dorothy Carlton, both of Section, AL.
Survivors include three sons: Paul and Diana Grider, Donald and Anne Grider, and David and Elizabeth Grider, all of Ozark; two brothers: Charles William "CW" Carlton and James Ray and Jeannette Carlton, all of Section; one sister, Faye and Michael Middleton of Summerville, GA; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Helen was the ex-wife of Frank GRIDER son of Solomon and Luella HILL GRIDER.
