He was my Grandfather and was born1879 in Wales (Trevethin). However he was only born there because his father ( William Rundle Carlyon)was a Methodist minister who , like all of them , were sent all over England on the 'Circuits.'This meant they were moved, with their families to an area , and preached in Wesleyan Chapels all over it.Then they were moved on. My father was born up North for the same reason, his father was a minister. The family originated in Mylor, Cornwall. I think all Carlyons originated in Cornwall, my Grandfather said that if you spell your name that way then you are related!! (So hi, cousins all!) He also said that the Carlyons originated from the Court of King Mark (from whom the legend of Arthur stemmed.) I find that my Great Gran was Emily Corfield Carlyon, formerly Mellor. I have no details of her. My Grandfather married against the family wishes (she was a locksmiths daughter from Bloxwich , and much older,) so he lost touch, but mentioned a sister Mabel Carlyon. Does anyone know about the Carvosso bit??(It may be a Spanish connection, I heard.)Would love to find out.
