1 Bartholomew Carrell b. 1722 (maybe) Ireland d 7-Dec-1827 Johnson Co, IN m. Katherine Zumwald m. 13-Dec-1772 Shenandoah Co,VA b. 1744 d. 1827 Born between 06-01-1722 and 09-05-1722.
The first record found on Bartholomew Carrell is his enlistment in the Revolutionary War from New London, Carolina Co, VA on June 1, 1780 at the age of 59.He served in Captain Stephens and Captain
Striblings companies in Colonel Hawes VA Regiment as a private.He fought in the battles of Camden, Guilford Courthouse, and Eutau Springs.He was discharged January 1, 1782.
He made claim for pension on September 5, 1818, giving his age as 96, and living in Dearborn Co, IN.In 1820 he lived in Jefferson Co, IN, and referred to his wife as Katherine, aged 76.He received a land grant from the government in Hensley Twp, Jefferson Co, IN prior to his death.
His will was recorded in Jefferson Co, IN.In the documents, the name Carrell is sometimes spelled "Carrol" or "Carrel". No records have been found, but tradition has it that he came from Ireland.
This lineage was compiled by Mrs Grace Hart Scott of Hammond, IN as evidence for entrance into the DAR. She was succesful!She received assistance from Everett Carrell, of Franklin, IN, and G.W. Carrell, of Martinsville, IN.
Records were found at Franklin, Johnson Co, IN and Martinsville, Morgan Co, IN A monument was erected by DAR to his grave in Franklin, Johnson Co, IN.
