The creek to which you refer flows southward to the Rivanna and is located in present-day Albemarle County. It is the first major stream upriver from Limestone Creek. Its headwaters lie just to the north of I-64 in the Southwest Mountains. It is 2-3 miles east of Shadwell, the estate on which Thomas Jefferson lived prior to the construction of Monticello.
Albmarle County was formed from Goochland in 1744.
Several patents were issued to Joneses.Daniel Jones received 400 acres on both sides of Bisket Run in 1745 (PB 23, p 867) and Robert Jones, 200 acres on Totier Creek (PB 23, p 1027).In 1782 William and susanna Carroll headed two households in the same tax district as James and John Jones.
On the south side of the Rivanna you will find Jones Creek, which flows into Buck Island Creek, which in turn flows into the Rivanna in a northeasterly direction.
In the early years of settlement of this area several Jones families obtained grants, along with Langfords, Sneeds, Bays, Cawthon, and Sharp, all names of families allied through various marital connections, and members of all of those families married daughters of Robert Sharpe of Henrico County.Which Jones it was who married Elizabeth Sharpe is not yet known, possibly William Jones of Fluvanna County in the 1780s (Fluvanna being formed from Albemarle and Goochland).
