Boy is this ever a bad time for me to think about genealogy!I've got a head cold which means my brain doesn't work half right and I've been doing Christmas baking and other preperations all day long!
This is my youngest son's wife's family.James Irby Carrell was a brother of her ancestor William Ray Carrell.Their parents were James E. Carrell and Mary C. "Mollie" Irby.
I remember the name Newell Walton Carrell but can't recall how it fit's in.James E. Carrell was the son of Thomas Carrell and Alsey (maiden name unknown). There were several brothers and sisters, but no Newell.
I show Mary C. Irby b. Feb. 1851 SC and Nancy Irby (wife of Newell) b. abt 1823 TN.They are probably related but I don't know how.I have been told that James E. Carrell's middle name was Erby, but I question that.I know that Irby can be spelled either way but unless the two families were closely connected for many generations I think it's unlikely he would have the same middle name as his wife's maiden name.
Mary Irby was the daughter of Carter A. Irby and Sarah J.Johnson.Oh, I see you mention Newell as a son of LeRoy Carrell, Sr.As I recall the Carrell boys were living very near each other in a census (1850?) and Jane was living next door to one of them and was of an age to be their mother. It would be nice to have more than that, but that is all I have.It seems someone has told me her maiden name or former married name but I haven't done anything with that, it's probably in one of the stacks!
