Good afternoon. My name is Douglas Rohde and I am conducting research for a book to be published in the Library of Congress. The book will also be available free to everyone on Google Books. The individuals in whom I am interested are Frank Albert Carriher (1876-Kansas / 1937-Kansas), his wife Margaret R. (Sumner) Carriher (1877-Missouri / 1926-Kansas), and Frank's parents Charles Albert Carrier (1846-Indiana / ????) and Sarah Melissa (Evans) Carriher (1849-Iowa / 1921-Missouri).
Legend goes that following Charles Albert Carrier's death between 1880-1900, his widow Sarah went to the pension office to receive his Civil War pension. She was denied access because his name has mistakenly been spelled "Carriher" instead of the correct "Carrier." They wouldn't budge, so she had to legally change her name to 'Carriher' to receive her due pension. I do not know when or where Charles died, unfortunately.
Your help is greatly appreciated. If you or anyone you know knows of any of these four people please contact me on here or through email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you for your time and have a great day!
