Good morning Phillis,
I have heard the same stories passed down in my family about Native American blood.Have also heard about possible ties to the Carrolls who signed the Dec of Ind and Bill of Rights.I have not been able to find proof on the line.I believe a fire just after the war of 1812 destroyed many records.
In any case, Maddox struck me.
I have Ellen Delia Lydie Carroll b. 7 Mar 1863.She was the youngest child of John T Carroll and Eleanor (this one is up for grabs) Littleford/Littlefool/Littlefoot.EDLC was raised by her older sister, Sarah born in 1847, who married George W Maddox.Sarah died in Boston 10 July 1937. I do not know anything about GWM.
Back to the maiden name of Eleanor, I have a death certificate.I am not sure if it was for Sarah or Ellen Delia, but it lists mother as simply "Littlefool", or at least that is what it looks like to me.It could be Littlefoot, and the person writing just failed to cross the T.
I would love to hear from you.
Margo
