Some Carrolls in the U.S. came from Canada originally after settling there from Ireland. They entered the Miramichi area of New Brunswick in the 1820's and spread out from there into Minnesota,Quebec and other places. Any Carrolls looking for roots should consider this as many U.S. families don't realize that their ancestors made a stop in Canada. If you can't trace your Carrolls to Ireland, this may be a possibility. Also, many Irish who ended up in the U.S. may have come from the Saint John area of New Brunswick. Many ships arrived there in the 1840's. The Provincial Archives of New Brunswick has some info on these ships. It is on-line. A book about the Miramichi Carrolls has been written by Joe Carroll.
