Thank you Jackie for your reply. I inadvertently attributed the 1871 marriage date of Priscilla the dau to Priscilla the mother. My posting should have read, "married abt 1828."
From my studies of wills, census and other data, I have determined that Priscilla (sometimes spelled without the "s") CARROLL married HENRY E. SMITH, grandson of John SMITH,and presumably a son of Edward. I have not yet found supporting records for Edward the father, nor for the middle initial of HENRY E. SMITH, though it appears probable that it was Edward, since he gave that name to his second son. Henry E. and Priscilla C. SMITH had 11 children, the last of whom was Mary "Molly" Priscilla SMITH, born 16 Dec 1851 Sampson Co, NC, married 1871 Robert Williams HOWARD of Sampson County. They were my great-grandparents. Priscilla CARROLL, wife of Henry E. SMITH, died between 1851 and 1860. Henry E. SMITH married Anna (LNU) bet 1860 and 1870 and wrote his will 29 Jul 1873.
I am looking for confirming sources that my Priscilla Carroll SMITH, b abt 1810, was a daughter of Jesse and Margaret "Peggy" Merritt CARROLL, JR. I note that my Henry and Priscilla SMITH named a daughter Margaret A. Do you know of an existing old family bible, church record, marriage bond, letters, wills, etc., confirming the issue of Jesse and Peggy Merritt CARROLL, JR? Any leads would be appreciated.
I note that Roger McHorse posted a number of specific dates of birth, circa 1770s, for the issue of Jesse CARROLL, SR, suggesting that a family bible might have been the source. Since posting his information, he apparently has changed his e-mail address and my e-mail was undeliverable.
