Hi Joann:
Yes, I will email you my snail mail addy!
Where I get the indian connection is from the family. I had a newly found 2nd cousin; a Brown, grandson of Roxie and John. I mentioned the fact that many of the Browns of John and Roxie have indian features. He told me that Roxie stated her mother Clementine Carroll was 1/2 choctaw indian.
I believe it could be cherokee and not choctaw. The only features I have is dark complexion but John & Roxies oldest son Andrew (my GF) has distint indian feature as I do have a photo of him. Johns parents were Jesse and Leah A. Miller of AL. I have a photo of Jesse in his CSA uniform and no indian features. I know nothing of his wife. His parents John and Elizabeth Pinkerton were from NC and SC and there could be cherokee there.
I never had the chance to meet Roxie or John as they were in MS and I in AL and they died when I was just a kid. My father knew little about them as his father Andrew died in 1920 of Typhoid fever so family history was lost for many years until my cousins found me.
Now, this cousin is in his 70's but he is of sound mind but as we both know, things can get mixed up and he could be wrong so this is all I have to go on. Also, I know little about William H. Carithers, Roxie's father but I have viewed his photo. Unless I can prove it my source will be family tradition!
Yes, I would like to have a copy of your tree and copies of the photos.
I reviewed the 1860 census of Carroll co. and find Phillip and family at Winona. I assume daughter Perscilla was married to your Bowling prior to census. I will add her to my tree.
Finally, it stands to reason (if there was indian blood) it would have come from the Carolina's as I too find no logical link to a choctaw.
Thanks again for your help
