I may have knowledge from two sources.See my new message on Anna Ella Carroll of MD of today. There were 4 Carroll families in MD, all interrelated however.AEC was of the Susquehanna line from Henry James Carroll (or James Henry, sources differ). Go to the US 1790 census and find Nicholas. AEC's line settled in Somerset County MD.
If the name is right, this corner of OH was the 1st county settled under the Ordinance of 1797.So it was settled by both Scots-Irish from PA, NJ, and MD and Puritans from CT as it was part of the CT Reserve. The Lords are from CT--2 came wth Thos. Hooker in 1636 and founded Hartford. Richard (?) was a patentee of CT (see Avalon Project at Yale Law School for copies of colonial charters--just google it).
I have Wordens and Beresfords and some Puritan CT connections in this area. It should be Jefferson Cty.Let me know if you find any of them in your lines.Go to county histories that are overlooked sources.
All these lines of mine then moved to NW Illinois.
