I've uncovered further information on the Carroll/Croxall relationship from the following website:
RICHARD CROXALL was born 1685 in Stoke-Golding Co., Leicester, England, and died 1747 in Baltimore Co., Maryland. He married JOANNA CARROLL. She died 18 March 1756.
Notes for RICHARD CROXALL: The parentage of Richard is proved by a series of depositions published after his death by his sons, Charles, Richard and James, who denied reports that their father had lost an ear as punishment for some crime. A memorandum dated 4 August 1716 stated that Richard Croxall, farmer, had come before the mayor and two justices of the peace of Stokes-golding, and testified that in 1690 his son and heir Richard had been riding in a cart when he fell off and the cart wheel passed over his ear, cutting it off.
Notes for JOANNA CARROLL: Joanna is perhaps the daughter of Anthony Carroll of Lisheenboy, Co. Tipperary, Ireland and is the niece of Charles Carroll, the Attorney General.
Children of RICHARD CROXALL and JOANNA CARROLL are:
RICHARD CROXALL, b. 1727; d. 11 May 1785; m. ELEANOR BUCHANAN, 02 December 1748, St. Paul's Parish, Baltimore Co., Maryland; b. 04 September 1731, St. Paul's Parish, Baltimore Co., Maryland. CHARLES CROXALL, b. 27 June 1724; d. 25 June 1782. JAMES CROXALL, d. 29 November 1748. MARY CROXALL
I'm still needing help in working through the various Carroll/Croxall/Daniel/Neale relationships. Thanks!
