Shawnee, April 6: G. L. BARR of Ada and Miss BELLE CARROLL of Ada, quarter blood Choctaw, were married here this morning by Rev. BURT of the Methodist church. Mr. Barr is formerly from Hartford, Connecticut and has worked for Mr. Carroll for the past six years on his stock farm near Ada, winning the heart and purse of his daughter. It seems this is another runaway and her father objected to the marriage, had the girl hidden some 8 or 10 miles from her home residence, and the lover searched for some two days and nights to find her preparing breakfast. They immediately fled on horseback, going south toward Denison, then turning north to the Frisco at Roff, taking the train to Holdenville then to Shawnee.
This is the third daughter that Mr. Carroll has had stolen in the last two years. Just about one year ago, JOHN HURLEY of Arkansas swiped the fairest damsel the father had. Mr. Carroll strolled all over Chickasaw Nation with a Winchester, hunting Hurley, who was enjoying his honeymoon at Globe, I. T. in the Choctaw Nation.
Mr. Carroll is an eloper himself, having stolen his wife in the Choctaw Nation. He is a native of Tennessee and has accumulated much wealth, having some three or four farms of 400 to 500 acres each, and grazing and hay lands.
The merry couple will be at the Shawnee hotel and will return to Ada as soon as they learn of a clear coast there.
