Thank you so much for getting back to me. My BARTLETT line is very much intertwined with this CARROLL line - my ancestor Thomas BARTLETT 1730-1806 m 1777 Fauquier Co, VA Sarah CARROLL as his second wife (Sarah was sister to your Sanford who married Thomas's daughter Elizabeth). Also their half-sister, Mary Ann Heath CARROLL, married Benjamin BARTLETT, another son of Thomas. On top of that, it was Sanford's sister, Jemima who married Sylvester WELCH who were my ancestors - they again tied into the BARTLETT line several generations later.
So you also descend from Thomas BARTLETT 1730-1806 of Harrison Co, VA.And through the miracle of DNA we now know that his father was Thomas BARTLETT Sr 1703-1783 and his first wife Elizabeth ____ both of whom lived their adult lives in Richmond Co, VA.
I've also followed Sanford's short life, and his 3 children (Ann, Sarah and Dempsey Porter); as well as his widow Elizabeth's second marriage to Thomas ASBURY, and their kids.
Dempsey Porter CARROLL 1776 VA-1856 Clinton Co, OH; m 1800 Harrison Co, VA Sarah BARKLEY 1780-1849 OH. Sarah was daughter of William BARKLEY and Sarah STEVENS - who are also my ancestors through their eldest daughter Anne who married John BARTLETT (son of Thomas 1730-1806 above)
So it looks like we are at least triple cousins!
Please tell me more about Dempsey's son John F CARROLL - I don't have him in my list of children, but my list has some holes in it.When/where was John F CARROLL born, and where did he live - I'd like to track him through the census records.
Also, do you know of any living male CARRROLs from this line?We have DNA from a very distant cousin, and I'd like to get a confirming DNA from someone much closer to my line.
I'd be glad to share my CARROLL file with you - it's all typed in a Word document which I could send in an email.
Your 3x Cousin, Jim Bartlett firstname.lastname@example.org
