I am not related to your Carroll/Cooper line, but I have found some information for you.
Missouri Carroll was apparently born circa 1849. She is enumerated in the 1850 census with her family in Thomas Co. GA, as aged 1 year.
She was the daughter, and probably youngest child of Claiborne and Harriett Carroll. Both Claiborne and his wife were born in North Carolina, but they were living in Thomas Co. GA by 1840, because "Claborn Carroll" is listed with a household there in the 1840 census. Claiborne and Harriett's parents were also born in North Carolina according to the 1880 census record.
1850 Census, Thomas Co. GA, pg. 33A
Claiborn Carrol, age 39 Harriet Carrol, age 38 Ann Carrol, age 15 John Carrol, age 14 Kilby Carrol, age 12 (male) Calvin Carrol, age 11 Joseph Carrol, age 9 Mary Carrol, age 8 Noah Carrol, age 4 America Carrol, age 3 ** Missouri Carrol, age 1 **
** Both America and Missouri are listed in this census as Male, but both were Female - an error by the census taker.
Missouri married William Rowan Cooper on 22 November 1882 in Lowndes Co. GA. I have obtained a copy of their marriage certificate, and they are listed as "Roan Cooper" and "Missouri Carroll". They were married by Rev. C. Howell.
I will be happy to forward you this copy by email, but it is not a very good copy. You can at least read the names and date.. or you can obtain a clear copy from Georgia Vital Records. It was found in Lowndes Co. Marriage Book, 1879-1890.
William Rowan Cooper was born on 11 April 1859 in Alachua Co. Florida.
It appears that Missouri and William Rowan had 2 sons, James William Cooper (28 Sep 1882-13 Aug 1955) and John Everette Cooper (18 May 1886-16 Nov 1945). Both are buried in Riverside Cemetery in Berrien Co. GA.
And it is interesting to note that James William was born in September 1882, but his parents were not married until November of that year. At least that is the birth date on his gravestone.. I have not seen his death certificate.
Missouri Carroll Cooper died circa 1897, probably in Berrien Co. GA. William Rowan married Lorena Adkins on 1 June 1903 in the same county.
William and Lorena had several additional children, and he died on 25 Dec 1926. He is buried at Stagepond Cemetery in Inverness, Citrus Co. FL. There is a photo of his gravestone available.
Lorena Adkins Cooper was born on 14 Mar 1871 in Berrien Co. GA, and died on 12 Aug 1936. She is buried at Crossroads Cemetery in Adel, Cook Co. GA.
