Edith L. Douglas Carroll, 76, of Rock Springs, died at
8 p.m., Monday evening, February 21, 2011, at Wellmont
Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, Sullivan Co TN.
She was born in Grainger County, TN, on September 26, 1934.
Edith lived in the Rock Springs Community for most of her
life and was a graduate of Sullivan High School. A former
employee of the Kingsport Press, Edith was a wonderful
homemaker and devoted Christian.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Inez and Thomas
Douglas; and a daughter, Linda Adams.
Survivors include her husband, Bobby J. Carroll, of the
home; son, Ronnie Carroll and wife Patsy, of Blountville,
TN; three grand children, Brandon Carroll and wife Ashley,
Wesley Larkins, and Kristen Larkins; three great-grand-
children, Landon and Aidan Carroll, and Hunter Roberts;
sisters, Gladys Collins, of Cleveland, OH, and Geneva
Bullis, of Kingsport, TN; brothers, Donald Douglas, of
Kingsport, TN, and Edward Douglas and wife Lillie, of
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m., on
Wednesday, February 23, 2011, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral
Homes, Kingsport. The service will begin at 7 p.m., with
Elder Scott Tipton officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m., on
Thursday, February 24, 2011, at Rock Springs United
Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers are Wesley Larkins,
Brandon Carroll, Barry Jones, Joe Selby, Ronnie Bledsoe,
and Roger Armstrong.
Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport, is serving the
family of Edith Carroll.
