Hello, Bob...thanks for writing back, I almost forgot about even sending the message!HAHA!
I don't live in either Bulloch or Candler, but actually closer to Atlanta. Here's my line as it descends from Mary Etta down....
Mary Etta Cartee married William F. Anderson, as you already know, on 16 May 1883 in Bulloch County. He's a son of John F. Anderson (1822-1864)of Bulloch and Eliza Ann Burnsed (1832-1898) of Bryan County. Their descendants (to my knowledge---the list of children is incomplete, as I'm sure some of these families have had many children.
1. Sally Anderson
27 Jul 1888Bulloch County
9 Dec 1968Claxton, GA
married Leroy Lewis, son of Wiley Lewis III and Ellen Anderson, sister of William F. Anderson, husband of Mary Etta Cartee. Leroy was born 18 Oct 1886 Bulloch County, died 27 May 1966 Claxton, GA.
They had seven children (I believe....)
A daughter was my great grandmother Ellen Eva Lewis. She was born on 7 July 1916 in Evans County, and still lives in Evans. She married Clarence Martin Sikes in 1932. Clarence was called "Bum" by his family and friends. He was a sharecropper and also an alcoholic. He loved hunting and fishing, and passed that tradition to his kids and grandkids. Bum, one of seven children to Daniel Martin Sikes (1881-1952) and Maggie Hendrix (1881-1946) was born on 2 February 1912 in Bulloch County (in the part that was cut to Evans in 1914), and died in Metter on 29 October 1984. They had ten children, half still live in the Metter area.
My grandmother was the third child and second daughter...Annette Sikes was born on 19 February 1937 in Evans. On 17 June 1951, in Jasper County, South Carolina, she married my grandfather Ralph Burnice Scott, son of Thomas Scott (1874-1936) and Virginia Canady (1885-1966). Ralph was born in Bulloch County on 22 June 1925, died in Harrison, Georgia, 2 October 1983. R.B. (as he was called) served in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam in the US Army, and was also a farmer and later, a security guard. They had five children, all born in Ft. Stewart, GA or nearabouts.
My father, William Renaie Scott was born there on 21 March 1955 when it was still designated Camp Stewart. The family moved around, from south GA to Germany to Atlanta, and a few places in between. In Atlanta, my father met Lora Jean Baize, daughter of Clarence Maurice Baize (1917-1982) and Anna Bernice Mantooth (1930-1965). Lora was born on 10 Oct 1956 in Bloomington, Indiana. Lora and William wed on 17 June 1973 in Atlanta, and they had two children---William Jr. (me), born 16 April 1975 in Atlanta, GA, and Bobby Lee Scott, born 4 March 1976 in Fort gordon, GA (while my father was in the military. William Sr. and Lora divorced in 1998, with Lora re-marrying Craig Rodgers and moving to Nashville, Tennessee. My father and I live in Covington, GA.
William and Mary Cartee Anderson, Eliza Burnsed Anderson, and Leroy and Sally Anderson Lewis are buried in Ephesus Church Cemetery, on the Bulloch/Evans line.
Clarence Sikes, Daniel and Maggie Hendrix Sikes are buried in the Sikes Chapel Cemetery in Evans County.
R.B., Thomas, and Virginia Canady Scott are buried in Ash Branch Church Cemetery, near the Bulloch/Bryan line.
I have a copy of the History of Metter and Candler County, and it's from there that I found our claim to royalty there. I've even went to the Kimbrell-Cartee Cemetery in the old Temples Cartee place, now owned by G. Douglas Cartee. The tombstones are nearly unreadable, but there's a guidestome designating the graves, names and dates. I haven't spoken to Douglas in a while, though.
I do appreciate your writing back....hope to hear from you soon!
