Samuel Cartledge 3/12/01
Dilly Landers Swann is buried in Friendship cemetery close to Jacksonville, Calhoun co. AL.Her grave was unmarked for many years but a few years ago, Miss Emmie Boozer had a marker placed on it.I don't know what death date is on it.My sister may have a picture of it.I will ask her.
I am a descendent ofDilly Landers through her 1st husband Benj. Page.I read your postings on the Cartledge site of Genforum and you mention several mysteries.I have some info that may help or maybe you can help me with the answer. My line of Landers and Page families were in Calhoun county and Etowah county AL.I subscribe to Ancestry.com and as I was looking through the 1920 Calhoun co. census, ED2, Jacksonville, I came across the following:
Thomas Cartledge age 58, widowed, born GA, father b. GA, mother b. Maine. He is a minister and has his 3 children living with him; Grover age 21 (an electrician), Annie Lane age 18 (telephone operator), and Mary age 16.Is this Thomas the son of Grover H and wife Annie Marie Lane?I don't have his descendents but since Thomas named a son and da. Grover and Annie Lane it would seem probable that they would be related.I haven't run across many, if any Cartledge's is this area so I thought this might be of interest to some researching this line.
