My records don't go back quite as far. I am looking for info on Cartlidges/Cartledges of this area also.My Cartledge is John who married a Mary Annie Baskerville. They had 5 children; Salley, Fred, Jack, Edith and Cissie (she was born on Sept 10, 1891/2). Cissie married a John Walley and they immigrated to the U.S. around 1921. I spent some time searchingthe records of the area of Staffordshire this past week, but I was unable to find these people.I found, however, a lot of Cartledges/Cartlidges. During my research it appeared that the spellings were not always easy to distinguish, and sometimes on the parish records the names would be spelled both ways even though it was the same pair of parents who had different children in different years.I was unable to write down all of theCartlidge/Cartledge info that I came across, but I did write down quite a bit, mostly birth and marriage records between 1880 and 1899.These were from different parishes around Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, and Wolstanton.I also came across quite a few records in the 1891 census.I'm not sure if anything I wrote down can be useful to anyone, but let me know and I will look.
