I posted a note earlier looking for info on a Castleton family, but recently came across some papers about a family of Castletons, not related to me, who may be of interest to someone else. This is a photocopy of "The East Anglian: Notes and Queries on subjects connected with the counties of Suffolk, Cambridge, Essex, & Norfolk."It is dated 1869.It says, "The Family of Castleton, of Stuston Hall, Co. Suffolk. The following extracts from the Parish Register of Suston, Co. Suffolk, relate to the family of Castleton.Sir William Castlelton, of Bury St. Edmund's, was created a baronet by King Charles I, in 1641; and his son John, the 2nd baronet, inherited this estate by his marriage with Margaret, daughter of Robert Morse, Esq., of Stuston.,The baronetcy became extinct on the death, in 1810, of Sir Edward Castleton, Bart., who, however, never assumed the title."This is followed by a listing of 20 babtisms dating from 1643 to 1716.There are five marriages listed, 1642 to 1708.This is followed by a listing of 16 burials starting in 1643 through 1748. If you think any of your relatlives were from this area, I would be glad to check the list for their names.
