the doc. we have has the name at jamestown 1st recorded as 'casson'. all three brothers carried the same 'casson' name. later documents in virginia, one generation down, record property transfers with the name 'cashion'. personal opinion is that the 3 brothers didn't write and the name sounded like 'casson'. I say 'didn't write' because wills and property records of that generation were witnessed and signed by others, with a 'mark' for our cashion, who was james.
