Good to hear from you. With regard to your questions on the Casners. The Casners that settled in Arizona were Morman (this included the patriach of the family).
Ray Martin descended from George Washington Casner. George was the second son of the elder John L. Casner (b.1822 MO).This particular John L. Casner is the line I have traced the most. To my kowledge he did not practice any religion.
Now George Washington Casner married Margaret Grover. If memory serves me right, she was born in UT and was probbly Mormanat one time.Whether she practices Morman later in life, I don't know.I scanned the obituaries I have for Ray Martin Casner and all the relatives.I found one where it mentioned the funeral was held at the Baptist Church, so one would think at least some of them were Baptist. Then I found a marriage license where one of the Casners was married by the Miniser of the ME Church.I don't know what the ME stands for.
Bottom line, it appears at least part of them were church going people. However, one has to keep in mind back in those times as much traveling as they did, there probably weren't that many churches around.
Yes, they did seem to inter-marry (cousins).Again, back in those days there weren't that many people around to select a spouse.
