Through family stories, many of the ten brothers of my GG Grandfather Maurice headed to the United states and fought on opposite sides. At least two died and their father Anthony headed sailed out from Scotland in 1867 to "settle their estates" never to be heard of again. The family had originally left County Cavan in Ireland around the time of the potato famine. There is a connection with Kansas City and I believe their mother is buried there from the burial records supplied by the Catholic Church archives in Missouri. I am waiting for the archivist in the Kansas side to try and find a legal search to settle a will carried out during the first half of last century to establish the names of the brothers.
So far apart from the parents, the only confirmed link is a marriage record for Thamas Casaday on 22 October 1877 to Ann Hunt in Saint Patricks, Kansas City, Jackson , Missouri.
I hope that by establishing the names of the brothers etc. that I can shed more light on their roots back in Ireland.
