SOUTH DAYTONA - Bennett Cassata, 72, of Anastasia Drive, a former furniture refinisher, died Friday at Oak Tree Nursing Home. He was also a former employee in the maintenance department at the Volusia Mall.
Mr. Cassata, a veteran of the Army Reserves, moved to this area in 1976 from his native Chicago. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of South Daytona. He enjoyed collecting coins and baseball caps, working with his hands and reading Popular Mechanics magazine.
Survivors include his wife of 13 years, Sharon; five sons, Brandon and Christopher, both of Edgewater, Anthony, Port Orange, Blake, Chicago, and Ronald, Denver; two brothers, Edward Bromberg and Paul Lund, both of Chicago; and two grandchildren.
