I have been looking in to the Cathcarts in England at around 1775 and there are only a handfull.A number of these have service positions and all connect to the Scotish root. They branch out to Ireland and the colonies including Jamaica, the Leeward Islands,India and China. It should be possible to piece these together. What does R.N.I.R. stand for? I hope next week to go to the National Archive where I am sure I can find out about William b.1775. As far as James C. first marriage we beleve Helen Lawson was approximatly 9 years his senior and that they married in Ontario between 1918 and 1924...so it should be possible to find. Regards Simon.
