Not sure what is in the database already, or how much detail you are interested in. Basic outline- I am a descendant of Walter E Catheys son James E Cathey.
John Cathey to my knowledge was born in Ireland but first appeared in Adolphustown Ontario in 1793 petitioning for a land grant of 200 acres in Thurlow (now Belleville). I also show two testimonials by Henry A Johnson of Hallowell and William Johnson of Hallowell regarding his death around 1800 by drowning. They state he lived in Marysburgh, had no will and had only two children- George (1798) and Elizabeth (about 1801). I also have notes by my relatives that they believed he was married to a Mary Johnson from NY.
Johns son George was married to Eustatia Brown, and they had ten children.John (1820),James Dougal(1823),Elizabeth Ann (1826), Martha(1829), Abragail (1832), Jemima (1834), Mary (1837), Eliza (1839), George Lever (also a civil war vet)(23 Feb 1844) and William. They ended up staunch Methodists and generally moved west through Ontario and into Michigan. Some still live near Lansing, I believe.
Georges son James Dougal married Agnes Lever and became an Indian school teacher/Methodist missionary to the Ojibway Indians in Ontario. His house still stands where Walter E Cathey was born- (It is called the Three Sisters house in Southampton Ontario). James and Agnes had six children- Frederick (~1855), John (~1855), Sarah, Walter E(Jun 1856), George and William. After Agnes died, James remarried to Betsey Bennett and they ended up having two more children in Michigan- Albert (Apr 1870) and Harry Willis (23 Feb 1872). The family then moved to the Los Angeles area (Riverside) in California to raise citrus in the late 1800s and he died there in 1912. Word is that there are still descendants in the area.
Walter E moved to Oregon in the early 1880s for the logging. He married Mary Goheen and they had five children. James Edward (1890), Margret Naomi (1892), Grace Nadine (1893), Ida Alice (18960, and Walter Morris (1898).
Beyond that lies the land of living Catheys, so I would prefer any queries to be by direct email. There is also further data as far as dates, married names, towns lived in, etc, but I figure that most people are not that into this stuff and this listing is too long already. But if there is anyone interested feel free to send me a query.
