I had contact with John Cathey, I believe, who told me that BHC had not known about my gg-grandfather until after the book had published.I didn't know if that meant that census records weren't used, and instead family records were used. His parents and siblings are in the book, but he is not (and he was the oldest child, and listed on the census records with his family).Regardless, this is neither here nor there.I have suspicions concerning him, but since I have no way to compare my autosomal DNA to any Cathey just to see how strong of a match there is, I may never know :)
I know my message came off quite snarky and contrary.I know that inflection is important, and I ended up taking my frustration out in a comment. That is why I followed up that I do find the book thoroughly ineresting and it is a very good book.I have found it very useful and I have attempted to help others find the book for purchase because it is wonderful.
I am sorry about the passin of your father. He did a great thing of tracing the Cathey lines.Anyone willing to do that with any family line, and have the opportunity for other people to learn, does a great thing.
I look forward to Volume 2.I am not certain how I would go about submitting information, however.
Anyway, I appreciate your response and I hope you accept my condolences concerning the passing of your dad.
