Carrie McClellan Carter, 90, passed away November 9, 2009,
at the Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation.
She was born November 3, 1919, and was the daughter of
David Patton McClellan and Jessie Caudle McClellan.
Ms. Carter was a member of the First Presbyterian Church
of Gate City and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W. Lee Carter;
sister, Maude Jones; brother, Hughie McClellan; and eight
nephews and four nieces.
Survivors are her daughter, Jeanne Vermillion and husband,
Eddie, Gate City, VA; grandson, Brian Vermillion and wife,
Julia, Murfreesboro, TN; granddaughter, Beth Williams and
husband, Kevin, Union, KY; four great grandsons, Will and
Jonathan Vermillion, and Grant and Garrison Williams; four
sister-in-laws, Hazel Carter, Gate City, VA, JoAnn Carter,
Kingsport, TN, Mary Salling, Weber City, VA, and Ina
Williams and husband, George, Kingsport, TN; brother-in-
law, Edwin Carter and wife, Ingrid, Weber City, VA.
The family would like to thank the nurses and therapists
at the Brian Center and Dr. Steve Adkins.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m.,
Thursday, November 12, 2009, at Gate City Funeral Home and
anytime at the home of her daughter.
Services will be at 7 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial
Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Donald Muncie II
officiating.
Graveside services will at 11 a.m. Friday, November 13,
2009, at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. The family
will meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to
the First Presbyterian Church, Food Pantry, P.O. Box 506,
Gate City, VA 24251.
