We have a copy of the book Caughman-Kaufmann family that was publ. in 1993 regarding our family line of SC. I noticed that one of Christopher Caughman's grandson's actually took back the orig. spelling of KAUFMANN for his family. Since he was a grt. grandson of the immigrant Jurg(George) Martin Caughman (Kaufmann?) I suspect he would have known the orig. family spelling of the name from back in Wurttemberg, Germany. After much research to hopefully find connections to Jurg's family in Germany, I did find some interesting links via the IGI records at Family Search in (and I Know I am going to spell this wrong), in Swaebisch Hall, Wurttemberg, Germany at a St. Michael's Lutheran Church. Very old christenings etc. that ~might~ link to our family line but again Kaufmann is SO common that I just don't know. Not to mention in German the name means "merchant", so that just adds to the confusion. I am so hoping that others of the Caughman name will do Ydna tests to see if we have anymore links. Please please consider it.
