hi Robert, searchin the net, in portuguese sites about the brazil connection, I found that in fact (as u know) the Family Cavalcanti came from Italy (Florença), and in middle XVI, they pass to Portugal caming from Spain, an then a FELIPE CAVALCANTI cross the ocean to northeast brazil in the estate of Pernambuco (Recife city). marriaged with D. Catarina de Albuquerque, filha bastarda de Jerónimo de Albuquerque
its registraded that in 25.08.1559 he (Felipe Cavalcante) asked`Portugal King a Cross (maybe a honor title, cause he was a big bissness man of wite-suggar-cane) in Pernambuco. http://genealogia.sapo.pt/familias/fam_show.php?id=258http://genealogia.sapo.pt/familias/fam_show.php?id=258
I suggest u look also Cavalcanti with "i" in the end, cause its the same family, and Cavalcante endding in "e" in probably an graficcal error of registration.
Well, Pernambubuco is nearby Paraíba (the state I live) bouth in northeast Brazil, and maybe this Cavalcante (Felipe) spread all cavalcantes throw aou Brazil, I´m still loking for. info about my city (João Pessoa, capital of Paraíba state) cam be seen in http://www.pbtur.pb.gov.br/index.shtmlhttp://www.pbtur.pb.gov.br/index.shtml
