Hi Steve, I want to add that the line you are referring to has a orothy Short early in the pedigree file. I remember Jonathans being on the male (Chaffee) side. I also remember that according to LDS records both father and son of same name (either Jonathan or Nathaniel in this line had many children and they named them all almost the same). I can't remember the other female lines that this Chaffee line married into. Experience's birth name was unique Experience Bliss. The female lines of this pedigree (according to LDS) go back to mid 1500's England. Again, I warn do not take what William H. Chaffee wrote as "Gospel" Nor LDS records for that matter. I have found gross errors both places. They are wonderful sources--but document their info.
I am trying to find the origins of my gr. gr. grandfather Joseph Chaffey b. abt. 1795, Devon or Dorset and hitting a brick wall after a year of searching. First documented as the only Chaffey surname in PEI, 1828.
William H.Chaffee had that right, but he printed incorrect names and dates. Good hunting, Helen Mc Steve, we talked before.
