Hi William - Thanks for the e-mail address, unfortunately, it appears there is no connection with the Chaffey's of Canada. Here is the information I have found on the Chaffey's of New Jersey which I passed along to Doug.
March 30, 1899 - Charles Benham , of this place, married Miss Sarah C. Dey, of Union Valley, by Rev. T.B. Appleget, on Sunday. The bride is a sister of Mrs. Alonzo Chaffey. (Elizabeth Dey Chaffey)
June 7 1900 - Mrs. Elizabeth Chaffey, wife of Alonzo Chaffey, died this morning at her home on North Main Street, of consumption, aged 34.She leaves two young children and is a member of the Hightstown M.E. Church.
February 11, 1909 - Samuel Chaffey, 70, died Monday at Asbury Park.Interment at Cedar Hill Cemetery.[The deceased was survived by others who were listed but the paper was torn at this point and missing. An obit from the Asbury Park paper may help if a paper exists.]
August 26, 1909 - The body of Samuel B. Chaffey, who died from a fall from a wagon at Asbury Park, NJ last week, was brought here for burial at Cedar Hill Cemetery. He was a former resident of here and leaves a wife and one daughter.
Plot owned by Alonzo Chaffey - East - Row 17-Plot 22
Arthur I. Chaffey - Jan 4, 1892-Aug 7, 1966 Elizabeth, wife of Alonzo Chaffey, Apr 14, 1866-June 7, 1900 Alonzo Chaffey - Nov 1, 1866-August 6, 1946
Plot owned by Annie Chaffey - East - Row 14 - Plot 10
Carrie B. Chaffey - 1873-1885 Samuel B. Chaffey - June 1, 1870-August 16, 1909 Samuel C. Chaffey - 1841-1909
If anyone has information pertaining to these names I would greatly appreciate the assistance.I know very little about the Chaffey's except for what I have been able to locate.I can not seem to find any further information on who Alonzo's parents are, or he had any siblings, I am only guessing at the relationship with the above mentioned Chaffey's. Thanks Carolyn
