I Peter Chalfant, of Clay district Monongalia County, West Virginia, being in my usual health of body, and of sound and disposing mind and memory and desiring to make a disposition of such Estate, real and personal, as it has pleased God to bless me with, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking any and all former Wills by me at any time made.
1st. Having heretofore given to my six daughters, t-wit; Melissa Ann Barnes, wife of harvey Barney, Elizabeth A. Price, wife of John E. Price, Martha E. Shriver, wife of Jasper N. Shriver, MargaretC. Shriver wife of George W. Shriver, Emma S. Ammons, wife of Marion Ammons, and Lucretia Bell Chalfant such part of my estate as I intended them to have.I now make no furter provisions for them in this my Last Will.
2nd;All the rest and residue of my estate, both real and personal I give and devise to my son Solomon E. Chalfant, subject however to the following conditions: that he take care of and comfortably and properly care of and support my beloved wife Hester Ann and at her death she is to have a decent burial and a monument erected at her grave that shall cost not less than sixty dollars, provided she elects to stay on the farm, ilbut if she does not choose to stay on the farm she is to have what is hers, then instead of paying her a maintenance as above stated, my son Solomon is to pay her five hundred dollars at the rate of one hundred dollars to annum provided she leaves my home at my death.
At my wifes death my son Solomon E. Chalfant is to have what is heres if she so elects, and at my death all my just debts if any, and funeral expenses and to be payed, also my son Solomon E. Chalfant is to erect a monument like the one ereected at my wifes Elsey grave and to cost sixty dollars.
And lastly I appoint my said son Solomon E. Chalfant, Executor of this my said Wil, Witness my hand and seal, this 24th day of October, 1889.
